Well if you have found this page that means that you must be looking
for some of my incredible compositions huh? I know people are just lining
up to hear some of my greatest hits. And believe me during this short
time in my life after I finally got off the sauce and chemicals I churned
out a few songs.
If you’re not interested in reading this ridiculous essay then
just click here and go on and start listening. Or downloading, whatever.
All of the songs are free of charge and are encoded at 64K, which should
not be too bad even for dialup. I did this to try and preserve some of
the terrible quality for you to enjoy.
All of these songs are 100% original Dufus (David Douthitt) I am sure
that I borrowed something somewhere; any musician that says he doesn’t
is a liar. I know this because Elvis Costello told me so.
I recorded these songs sometime between 1999 and 2001 on a Tascam PortaStudio3
4-track recorder. I think it is their bottom of the line unit. So it
is quite lo fi. But for me at the time it is high fi. And I burned many
hours in my little apartment with headphones a mike and my guitar. I
would generally find somebody who would lend me a bedroom in his or her
house to record the drum track.
There is a lot of rambling and stuff about drugs and alcohol. Sometimes
I am just ranting about nothing in particular. And some of the lyrics
are so stupid it makes me grit my teeth. But I would never do anything
with this box of prized recordings. This was a time of finding myself,
God, and purging myself of all the bottled up nonsense of over 15 years
of hard partying.
The list of songs is quite long you know. Enough for you to fill up
a couple of CD’s and enjoy anywhere. (If they were enjoyable) So
sample a few of them and tell me what you think. Heck someday I may even
re do some of them in a real studio. Now wouldn’t that be cool?
